SAMPE Carolinas 2014 Materials Expo SAMPE CAROLINA'S MATERIALS EXPO IS COMING UP FAST! YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THIS! When Thursday April 17, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM EDT Where Penske Racing 200 Penske Way Mooresville, NC 28115 The SAMPE Carolinas Chapter is conducting our Third Annual Composite Materials Expo on Thursday, April 17th beginning at 5:30 PM!  We will be meeting at Penske Racing in Mooresville, NC.  Admission this year is only $10. Event is now closed.   SAMPE focuses on 3 key characteristics for success…   We will address all three at the EXPO! Education: At each EXPO we feature two technical presentations intended to give participants a look at the most innovative research in the composite industry.   Andrew Miller will be our speaker from Penske. He will speak on how composites have enhanced the sport of racing and how they evaluate those materials for use in projects now and in the future.  DJ Riddle of Riddle Technologies will be our second speaker. He will be speaking about RF cure technology for adhesives and resins. SAMPE Carolinas February 2014 Chapter Meeting

Come Visit with Us in February The SAMPE Carolinas Chapter is pleased to invite you to our first chapter meeting of 2014 on Wednesday, February 19th at 4:00 PM at the Clemson University Restoration Institute in North Charleston, SC. PLEASE NOTE NEW LOCATION FOR THIS MEETING! This will be an exciting event so you won't want to miss this! Details are below. Registration is OPEN; so please click the registration link below to make your reservation if you'd like to come. Due to the nature of this meeting and its venue we will not be able to accept walk-in registations. All attendees must pay in advance to secure their place. We will open the venue at 4:00 PM and the program will begin shortly thereafter. The cost is $40 for all attendees. The additional cost of this event is due to the need to pay for security at this get together, as well as…well…it's Charleston, so everything is more expensive.   Scheduled Presentations and Tours The program begins at 4pm with presentations by the CURI staff on CURI, the wind turbine test facility, and the Hunley restoration project. Following the program, there will be tours of the turbine test facility and the Hunley labs. We will conclude with cocktails and hors d’ouevres following the tours.   Future Events This new venue will not be a permanent meeting place for us. The Whitewater Center will remain our default home base, but we are also looking to mix things up a little. SAMPE Carolinas November Dinner Meeting

Come Meet with Us SAMPE Carolinas would like to invite you to our November 2013 dinner meeting on November 12th starting at 6:00pm. The event will be held at our usual location, the Whitewater Center in the Charlotte, NC area. The cost to attend is just: $20/ person for SAMPE members $25/ person for guests or non-members $10/ person for students with a valid student ID card   Our Schedule Will Be 6:00pm – 6:30pm Cocktails 6:30pm – 6:45pm Welcome and Announcements 6:45pm – 7:15pm Dinner 7:15pm – 8:00pm Keynote 8:00pm – 8:30pm Cocktails & Adjourn   Our Keynote GE Wind Energy Wind turbine blades have become a leading consumer of composite materials, design methodology and processing developments. This presentation will outline composite demands, challenges and trends in the wind turbine industry. The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE®), an international professional member society, provides information on new materials and processing technology either via technical forums, journal publications, or books in which professionals in this field can exchange ideas and air their views. As the only technical society encompassing all fields of endeavor in materials and processes, SAMPE provides a unique and valuable forum for scientists, engineers, and academicians.

SAMPE’s strength is in its chapters. We have professional and student member chapters worldwide.

SAMPE is governed by an Executive Cabinet of volunteers elected from its members. A Board of Directors representing the professional chapters oversees the Cabinet. Day-to-day operations of the Society are run by a paid professional staff located at the International Business Office in Covina, California.
